From the program notes to the Reception with Gerald Finley, held 21 September 2006:

Ottawa native Laura Dziubaniuk received her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Ottawa and claimed a number of international vocal scholarships that allowed her to fine tune her craft at the Kiev Conservatory in Ukraine, the European Mozart Academy in Poland, and the Sixth International Interpretation Courses in Slovakia.

This winner of several Canadian and international vocal music competitions—the Brian Law Opera Scholarship Competition of 1993, the prestigious 1992 Canadian Music Competition’s “International Stepping Stones,” and the 1993 Czech and Slovak Competition, among others—Laura has performed in North America for the CBC, SRC Jeunes Artistes, the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival, Thirteen Strings, The Philharmonic Society of Montreal and Des Jeunesses Musicales du Canada.

In Europe, she has performed at the Krakow Opera House, the Stu Theatre (Poland), in the Bratislava and Piestany Concert Halls and at the Kiev Opera House.

As a former member of the Opera Lyra Ottawa Associate Artist Program, Laura understudied principal roles in Opera Lyra productions. More recently, she has had stints with Opera Breva and Bytown Operaworks and returns to the stage as a member of Ooh La La Opera! with her magnetic presence and a voice that is richer than ever.
